We are Edyta Kawka and Achim Jörres and work in Charité University Hospital, Berlin Germany.
I am Edyta, the ESR and originally I am from Poland. I received my undergraduate training at the University of Medical Science in Poznan, Poland before joining EuTRiPD in 2012. My long term career goal is to work in a research area.
Outside my work in the laboratory I enjoy going to concerts of my favourite bands, going to the cinema or just cooking something good and I can be found online on Facebook.
I am Achim, the PI and have been involved in PD research for 25 years. The overall research areas in my laboratory include peritoneal cell biology, the regulation of peritoneal inflammation and angiogenesis, and dialysis fluid biocompatibility.
Outside my lab and clinical work I enjoy my family, travelling, books and music. No, I'm not on facebook or twitter; I still prefer to talk with friends.
Together, our work in EuTRiPD looks at the role of peritoneal fibroblasts in normal peritoneum and in PD-induced inflammatory responses.
